Application status

To check the status of your application you need to log in to your nidirect account.

From here you will be able to see more information on your application status.

You may be asked to provide further information if there have been any problems.

Identity checks

If your application was unable to be processed automatically, or you have had an issue with uploading identity documentation, contact us.

Applying on behalf of another person

If you need to apply on behalf of another person, you will need to create an account for yourself and have your own identity verified first.

You can then apply for a certificate by providing information for the person you represent.

Renewing my certificate

The COVID certificate is valid for three months from the date of application. Digital certificates will automatically renew a week before they are due to expire.

Domestic certificates

Vaccination certificates can now be used for both travel and domestic use.

To use your domestic certificate - without the need of a form of ID - you will have to add a selfie to the COVIDCert NI app.

You can still use your travel certificate for domestic use, but you may need to show a form of ID (e.g. your passport or driving licence) for entry into venues.

Non-digital certificates

If you cannot apply online, you can request a paper certificate using the telephone service 0300 200 7814, available Monday to Sunday from 8.00 am to 8.00 pm.

This is an application support line. Call handlers will not be able to provide advice on entry requirements to specific destinations or check the detail of your vaccination records.

This process will take longer than the digital process and you will be required to verify your identity in person by presenting documentation at an appointed time and location.

Once identity checks have been completed it may take up to 10 working days for the printed certificate to arrive.

Vaccines received outside of Northern Ireland

The certificate is only currently open to Northern Ireland residents who have had both vaccines in Northern Ireland.

Editing details on a certificate

To change or update details on a certificate please contact covidcert@hscni.net and one of the team willl assist.

Updating nidirect account information

If you need to change the details on your nidirect account, you can manage your account details at any time.

Issues with the app

The COVID certification team are aware of issues with viewing and accessing certificates in the app, and are actively working on fixing this.

Locked or deleted accounts

If you have difficulty registering for an account, accessing an existing account or if you have forgotten your memorable word, contact us.
