If your application was unable to be processed automatically, or you have had an issue with uploading identity documentation, contact us.

Applying on behalf of another person

Parents and guardians can apply for Vaccination and Recovery certificates for young people up to the age of 17. Parents and guardians should log in to their nidirect account. From here there is an option to “Apply for someone else” please click this option. As part of the validation process, you will be required to upload a photo of the young person’s passport.

11 to 16 year olds can display their COVID Travel certificates on their own phones by downloading the COVIDCertNI app and scanning the certificate sent to their parent or guardian.

Renewing my certificate

The COVID certificate is valid for six months from the date of application. Digital certificates will automatically renew a week before they are due to expire. If you are concerned that your certificate is nearing expiry, you can manually refresh your certificate by logging into your account and clicking the ‘Update COVID certificate’ button.

If you are having issues with an expired certification, please contact us.

You can download your certificate and view and print it as a PDF. Please log in to your account and click ‘View’ and then ‘Download’.

Missing Doses

If you have tried renewing your certificate and doses are missing, please log in to your nidirect account and click 'View' and then 'Report missing doses'.

Domestic certificates

To use your domestic certificate - without the need of a form of ID - you will have to add a selfie to the COVIDCert NI app.

You can still use your travel certificate for domestic use, but you may need to show a form of ID (e.g. your passport or driving licence) for entry into venues.

Non-digital certificates

If you cannot apply online, you can request a paper certificate using the telephone service 0300 200 7814, available Monday to Friday from 9.00 am to 6.00 pm and Saturday 9.00am to 1.00pm.

This is an application support line. Call handlers will not be able to provide advice on entry requirements to specific destinations or check the detail of your vaccination records.

This process will take longer than the digital process and you will be required to verify your identity in person by presenting documentation at an appointed time and location.

Once identity checks have been completed it may take up to 10 working days for the printed certificate to arrive.

Recovery certificates

To apply for a Recovery certification, you must first create an account with NI Direct which will take you through identity verification.
